Web Design Shopper's Guide
Who should read this guide?
If you are a- small or medium business looking to develop or redesign your website
- new company and you aren't sure what you need
- potential website owner of any sort who doesn't know what prices are fair and what to expect
What to expect from most web design companies
Unless you have an enormous budget, you are up for a bumpy road. Ask around from your peers, and you may hear a similar story in which the shopper paid between $500 to $1500 for a website, but they did not really get what they wanted. Even more common is the fact that most websites simply do not succeed.
If you want to get a solid return on your web investment just follow these simple rules.STEP 1: Plan Your Own Design
It's truly important to have an idea of what you want before you
approach a design firm. You need to at least have an idea of what
colors you want, if you want Flash animation or not, if you need a
logo, and if you prefer linear or curved designs.
This is all important because if you contact a web design firm prior to
having a clue, you will likely find yourself in a miscommunication
match-up and the result will be expensive design revisions or a design
you don't like.
Of course it does not hurt to get a free instant quote from
Circular Design, we have made an easy form for you to fill out
that lets you pick design features and color schemes. Try filling it
out, you will not only get a price but it will help you find
out what you want before you approach a web design company.
STEP 2: Choose Your Features
Buying a website is in a way like buying a new car.
You are going to pay for the base model, and the pick
your features like power windows or a six speaker
stereo system. Of course with your website you are
choosing different features like web galleries,
eCommerce, social networking, newsletter systems,
and more.
STEP 3: Get Quotes
Don't get one quote or one proposal!Note that the code preview has been modified to show the correct hierarchy, the actual index.php has much more code around those code elements.
Making an investment in your companies
future should not be a rash decision.
Getting at least three quotes allowes you to know
if you are getting the most for your money
and gives you a preview of what to expect from
the company you choose.
With the diagram above, you can see that even though you visually see the left column on the left, the main column in the middle and the right column on the right, the code construction places the main column first, then the left and finally the right.
Configuration
To configure the widths of the left, right and inset columns, go to Extensions → Template Manager → rt_nexus_j15 and edit the parameters there as shown below:-
